Toronto: Canada’s axis for culture, sports, and business

Toronto is one of the most charming regions in North Canada. Just like New York in the USA, Toronto is the location of all the biggest business, finance, art, and industry centres. The metropolis awaits everyone who feels the need to enjoy the landscape of a modern, active, and at the same time traditional at its core city.

How to travel?

Toronto guests are welcomed in Toronto Pearson International Airport and the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. City centre can then be reached by bus. Toronto also offers tram and metro public transportation services. Tickets are quite pricy, but the trip using public transportation will be comfortable and it will leave pleasant impressions.

What to taste?

Toronto is a true oasis for all lovers of delicious, filling and fragrant food. Surrounded by so many fast-food-loving cities, Toronto offers truly one-of-a-kind dishes instead.

Locals usually have a dish of grilled and skewered pieces of meat, ham, mushrooms, and onions for lunch. Also greatly appreciated is salmon roasted over fire, cod, blue cheese and broccoli soups, beans stewed in sauce, or Chinese pie (layered beef, corn, and mashed potatoes).

Canadian Maple syrup mania is well-known, and it has reached our country as well. This syrup is used for various pancakes, pies, waffles, porridge, or ice cream, to add some unique taste. We recommend also snacking on some baked dough cookies, butter dough pastries, potato straws with cheese and sauce, and caramelised apples.

What to see?

Toronto beckons with its far away visible skyscrapers. The city has one of the highest buildings in the world, the CN tower. If you go up, you will be able to see the whole city, surrounded by water.

The first Anglican church was built in Toronto, the Cathedral of St. James. Here you will also find the Casa Loma castle of dreamlike beauty. Even more impressive are Toronto museums. We recommend visiting the Royal Ontario Museum, as well as the art galleries of Lonsdale, Ontario, and more.

Worth paying attention are also the Gallery 44, which is dedicated to photography, and the original Bata Shoe Museum. Technology lovers will not be disappointed after paying a visit to the Ontario Science Centre, and sport fans will enjoy the hockey Hall of Fame.

What to do?

When you start feeling weary from all the city noises and buzz, head over to the large Toronto Zoo and take a rest there. You may also indulge in some sunbathing and water fun in any Toronto beach, and you could also head over to the Toronto Islands. A water trip there will once again show you that Toronto is more than just a city of skyscrapers, but one full of various arts, culture, and active leisure possibilities as well.
