The real shine of Milan hides behind a curtain of stereotypes

Millions of people link Milan to fashion, money, danger, and Italian job paces. However, as soon as one arrives here, all stereotypes fall away. Milan is a miniature version of the Western world, and the city is brimming with ancient history, constant renewal, unthinkable speeds, and beauty that leaves no heart untouched. It is worth visiting for all who wish to get to know the unusual and yet charismatic Italy better.

How to travel?

Flights to Milan reach the finish at one of three local airports. Depending on the airline services, you could land in Orio al Serio (Bergamo), Linate, or Malpensa airports. All landing strips are located at a considerable distance from the city centre. However, it isn’t too hard to reach it once you take a short trip by a special bus or a train.

It is best to go exploring Milan after purchasing a multiple usage public transportation card. If you wish to reach your destination faster, choose a comfortable metro trip. On the other hand, if you are in no hurry, you should definitely select the colour orange marked tram routes. Milan tracks still to this day continue to be used for some cars from 1929. Another way of convenient inner-city travel is taking a bus.

What to taste?

Milan, located in the North of Italy, offers unique cuisine that will soothe your senses. We especially recommend trying out a baked Milanese delicacy called panzerotti. On a hot summer day, you can always get refreshed by tasting some Italian gelato ice cream. If you feel like you’re losing energy, buy a cup of authentic espresso coffee.

What to see?

The Second World War left a part of the elegant Milan in ruins. However, the city kept its ability to leave an unforgettable impression on its every guest. Meanwhile, a perfect example of the unity between the old and the new is the gothic Milan Cathedral, which is roughly 500 years old and yet is still being refined to this day.

If art interests you, pay a visit to the Sforza Castle, where you can view some murals created by Leonardo da Vinci. Milan is attractive because of the way one can admire the impressive sculptures even while being in a cemetery. Other important objects to name are the ever-graceful Central Park, a train station that could recall the time period of B. Mussolini, and Milan’s Modern Art Gallery.

What to do?

In Milan, you can always go for entirely changing your wardrobe, even using masterpieces from famous designers. You must at least try and take a quick look at Milan’s impressive Victor Emmanuel Gallery, the Golden Triangle, and Via Montenapoleone Street, also called “fashion runway”, or Buenos Aires Avenue.

Milan is located close to a few lakes. Those wanting a more active leisure time may choose diving, or other water entertainment. It is also worth watching a football match here. It is, after all, Milan’s joy and pride. The city that guards many crossings between different eras, without losing its unique rhythm, keeping up with the times, preserving a mysterious quality to its streets, is a perfect flight destination for those who wish to gather many unique and personal experience points in their life.
