Dubai: innovations, luxury, and entertainment haven

The real, unrestrained luxury can be observed only in Dubai. Hot sun and big city lights will open up a gate to the dreamlike city of the United Arab Emirates. Your eyes will start flickering from all the golden adornments, shiny glass skyscrapers, most intricate buildings, and sky blue water of the surrounding Persian gulf.

How to travel?

Dubai is a perfect land for carefree holiday and getting acquainted with the riches. You will understand that immediately after landing in one if Dubai’s airports. Al Maktoum International Airport is the biggest airport in the world, and Dubai airport is the largest one in the Middle East.

You can take taxi or metro to go to the city centre from any of the two airports. This will not cost you too much, but the airport taxi boarding charge is much higher than for any other taxi elsewhere in the city.

What to taste?

If you’re interested in Arab cuisine masterpieces, you will not be disappointed. A truly impressive dish, for example, is the whole stuffed camel, although it is definitely not for every one’s wallet.

Dubai is proud of its dishes of Al Harees, which is made up of baked wheat and meat, Machboos, or spiced meat and rice with vegetables and nuts, as well as of Ghuzi, which is a shashlik-like lamb dish. You could also try some deep-fried balls made from ground chickpeas, called falafel, for lunch.

For dessert, you could choose some cheese cake with cream, Esh Asarya, some rose water pudding, or Mehalabiya, and some sweet dumplings with syrup, called Luqaimat. You can quench your thirst with some godly tasting fruit nectar or coffee.

What to see?

Dubai has some deeply impressive buildings. It would be hard not to notice the sail-like Burj al Arab, which is the only seven-star hotel around the globe, the highest building in the world Burj Khalifa, or the vast shopping mall called Dubai Mall.

No less impressive are the Palm Islands, three huge artificial islands. Worth paying attention are also Dubai’s Gold and Spices markets or the Computer street, full of the newest technology. Great memories will also be left by the unique Dubai Dancing fountain.

What to do?

Fairytale-like beauty of Dubai is best viewed in the evening. Ship tours are great for this purpose. The Mall of the Emyrates will offer you a whirlpool of winter entertainment, with vast skiing tracks and hills perfect for sled rides.

Dubai Mall is also full of entertainment possibilities: the mall has an underwater zoo, more than 20 cinema halls, and a skating rink. You can always get some rest from all the shimmering grandeur and luxury if you head over to any of Dubai’s beach or explore desert dunes. Dubai will definitely not leave you unimpressed, and a holiday spent here will be more than perfect.
