Routes to South Korea

Useful advice for travelling to South Korea (KOR)

South Korea: a country where ancient traditions intertwine with modern technologies. Local nature seems fragile, gentle, and soothing, with calm and peace surrounding its every corner. South Korea beckons tourists with its five-millennia-long cultural development and exceptionally friendly and hospitable locals that are always ready to help. It is really easy to become a part of this country’s joyous everyday life, even if just for the time of your visit.

Preparing for the trip

Flights to South Korea are a carefree experience, as Lithuanian citizens will not require a visa. There are also no compulsory vaccination requirements for entering the country. However, to be entirely safe and prepared, you should consider getting vaccinated against hepatitis A and B, malaria, diphtheria, and tetanus before you head out.

Transportation and travel charges

The best ways to go from city to city are to use high-speed trains, planes, and buses. Use metro, buses, or cars to easily explore distant city outskirt areas, incense aroma-filled temples, and Korean architectural heritage buildings. However, you’ll make the most out of your journey if you go on foot.

Official local currency is the South Korean won (KRW). Local prices are higher than in Lithuania; more so in smaller shops, opposed to bigger shopping centres. You will pay 1.9 euro for milk, 3 euros for rice, and approximately 6.30 euros for chicken meat in a South Korean shopping centre. Fresh fruit are also quite pricy: apples cost 5.30 euros, and oranges – approximately 4.30. You can have a beer in a cheap restaurant for about 3 euros and order a kimchi snack for 5.

Additional information:

  • South Korean capital Seoul is 7000 kilometres away from Vilnius.
  • The country belongs to the UTC +9 time zone.
  • Official language is Korean. Most locals do not speak English well.

Best return gifts choices

Authentic souvenirs are a sure way to capture precious moments of your visit to South Korea. Korean rice sticks will be fun to try out instead of usual forks, and Korean tonic tea will make an interesting change to your everyday black tea or coffee drinking rituals. Mondays will seem brighter and more fun if you wear colourful socks with cute little drawings. Cheap but good quality South Korean electronics will make highly practical return gifts for your loved ones and friends.
