Cheap flights to Qatar provide a great opportunity to witness astonishing changes of this Middle Eastern countries’ life. Just recently, Qatar was a poor country, which has today been transformed into a land of glimmering skyscrapers, luxurious beaches, and full bars. Those wishing to have some rest and calm during their holidays will be able to find it in Qatar desert dunes, on the Persian Gulf shores, or while exploring small old-tradition-preserving local towns.

Preparing for the trip

In order for you to start your holiday in Qatar, a visa will have to be issued. You can submit your application via a travel agency, the hotel you will be staying in, or possibly with the help of a Qatar local who you might know. For now, there is no possibility of acquiring your visa at the airport.

When going to Qatar, there are no compulsory vaccinations required. However, there is a risk of getting infected with typhoid fever, hepatitis A and B, diphtheria, and tetanus in the country, and you should get vaccinated before you head out. You will feel even safer if you buy health and travel insurance before your journey starts.

Transportation and travel charges

Main Qatari traffic consists of land transport. Road quality is average, but is being continuously improved. The best ways to get better acquainted with Qatar are to use buses, taxis, or rental cars. The minimum age for renters is 21 (or 18 in some places).

You can pay for your purchases using official local currency, Qatari riyals (QAR). One riyal is equal to approximately 0.217 euro. Living costs in Qatar are higher than in Lithuania. For example, you can have lunch in a cheap restaurant for 30 riyals and buy a cappuccino for about 16.73 riyals. In local shops, a 1.5 litre water bottle will cost you 1.85; you can buy one kilogram of rice for about 7.83 riyals, while one kilogram of chicken breast will cost you approximately 25.43. Public transport tickets cost 5 riyals, and a one kilometre long taxi ride will cost you approximately 1.50 riyals.
