Exotic and lively Bangkok – for those in hurry to experience more

Bangkok is a colourful, noisy, and action-filled city, which will keep you surprised at its numerous cultural heritage objects, delicious local food, traditional markets, and modern shopping centres.

How to travel?

Flights to Bangkok reach their finish at the impressive Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport that provides service to up to 45 million travellers every year. The airport is located 30 kilometres away from the city centre, and you can reach it comfortably by using buses, trains, or taxi.

Trains are trundling both above and below the city of Bangkok, and they will help you reach any of the main city entertainment and business zones. Where no trains are available, you can always use metro or fairly cheap taxi services instead.

What to taste?

After arriving to Bangkok, try and taste a new meal each day, in an entirely different location. The city offers numerous dishes of delicious tastes in various cafés, as well as on the street. Definitely try the traditional Thai dish of Pad Thai, which is made from rice noodles, bean sprouts, onions, eggs, and shrimp, flavoured by fish sauce and chilli pepper. Also worth your attention, are dishes of coconut milk soup with chicken (Tom Kha Kai), fried rice with pork and basil (Pad Krapow Moo Saap), and hot papaya or beef salad. Dare to try some exotic dishes as well, easily found in many Bangkok markets, such as fried larvae, scorpions, roaches, or other kinds of insects.

What to see?

One of the most impressive Bangkok cultural objects is the luxurious Grand Palace, built in 1782, where Thai rulers used to reside. Nowadays, the building is at the centre of various official events. You simply must see the pure gold Buddha statue at the Wat Traimit temple, as well as the 45 metres long and 15 metres high Reclining Buddha statue at the oldest temple of Wat Pho that was built in 1781 for King Rama I.

What to do?

Every tourist must pay a visit to the National Bangkok Museum that houses the largest art and history collection in Thailand. Visit the authentic floating market of Damnoen Saduak, where you can acquire some fresh fruit, vegetables, or even gold. Do not miss an opportunity to take a walk across the vast Chinatown, brimming with numerous shops that offer to buy gold, jewellery, and other things. If you feel tired from all the city noises and sightseeing, head over to the Lumpini park or go on a sailing trip in the Chao Phraya river.
