Prague – the city for admirers of breathtaking architecture and lovers of great beer

Red tile roofs that stand out from afar, rich history, and a delightful mix of different architectural heritage objects, as well as unfamiliar and yet filling dishes, and a variety of beer styles are all things that beckon every traveller to take a closer look at the capital city of the Czech Republic.

How to travel?

Prague can be reached by flying from Lithuanian airports and transferring at Riga, Milan, Copenhagen, or any other city that offers connect flights to the Vaclav Havel Airport in Prague. This airport, previously called Ruzyne, is located roughly 20 kilometres from the city centre.

You can travel from the airport to a hotel, or some other place of stay, by using taxis, minibuses, shared buses, or public transportation buses. Shared bus and minibus trips should be pre-ordered; this can be done in the airport arrival hall’s information centre. Naturally, the cheapest way to reach a desired Prague destination point is by public transportation buses that leave every 10 minutes.

Prague is best seen and understood on foot, but whenever you get tired from exploring of the city, you can take use a bus, a taxi, or get onto a tram or on metro.

What to taste?

Prague is first and foremost famous for its long-lasting traditions of beer making, and the city offers several different types of beer. We recommend tasting and rating at least five of them, to be able to form a general impression about Czech beer manufacturing and the uniqueness of the local drink. Gourmet beer lovers should definitely book a Prague breweries tour, or use a special map of best places offering beer in Prague.

Czechs love food that is filling, so when hungry, you should try some traditional Czech dishes: pork with dumplings and sauerkraut (Vepřovį knedlķky zelķ), goulash, or fried cheese with potatoes and salad (Smažený Sýr).

What to see?

Prague has many places worthy of your attention: from unbelievably beautiful monuments and architecture, like the Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, the Charles Bridge, or the Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square, to the Dancing House built in 1996.

Panoramic city view can be observed from the town hall tower, or from a 96.5 metre high tower of the striking gothic St. Vitus cathedral. Petrin Hill also offers a truly unforgettable view from its Observation tower, letting you see the highest point of the Czech Republic.

What to do?

While visiting sightseeing objects in Prague, do not forget about the National Museum, as well as the Modern and Contemporary Art Museum, theatre, and opera in Prague. No art and culture admirers will be bored when staying in this city.
