Useful advice for travelling to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (VCT)

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an island country right on the South-eastern border of the Caribbean Sea and a great holiday destination for all tourists seeking a place to escape from big city noises. Flights to Saint Vincent provide an opportunity to admire thick local rainforests and warm tropical climate as well as heated local culture.

Preparing for the trip

Lithuanian citizens who wish to visit Saint Vincent for a period of 30 days or less are free to do this without a visa. Vaccination requirements are only applied when incoming tourists are arriving through other infected territories. However, you will feel much safer if you acquire some anti malaria medication and get vaccinated against hepatitis A and B, typhoid fever. If you’re planning to engage in some active tourism, you should remember to apply for health insurance and renew your vaccinations against diphtheria and tetanus if that is necessary.

Transportation and travel charges

Ferries are best for getting acquainted with the island country. Most comfortable inland transport is minibuses that make frequently trips along the island’s streets. You could also always choose rental cars or taxis, but remember that the country uses the left-hand-traffic system.

The official local currency is the East Caribbean dollar (XCD). One such dollar is equal to approximately 33 euro cents. Living costs are more or less the same as in Lithuania. You can have a lunch in café for 10 euros and buy some traditional food for just 4 to 5 euros in a cosy side road tavern. Public transport travels are fast, fun, and cheap: a ticket shouldn’t cost you more than a euro.
